Fat Email

I've heard other quilt artists who enter shows refer to the "fat envelope", meaning that there work was accepted and will be hung in an important venue.  I was the lucky recipient of a "fat email" this week.  My Warbler on Yarrow has been chosen to be in the collection of the International Quilt Study Center at the University of Nebraska.

Here's a quote from the juror of the SAQA 20th Anniversary Trunk Show:

"Congratulations!  Your piece in “Meet the Artist: SAQA 20th Anniversary Trunk Show” has been chosen to be one of the 55 pieces archived in the permanent collection of the International Quilt Study Center at the University of Nebraska – Lincoln.  It will be available to researchers and students as a record of the art quilt in 2009... Your quilt was selected because it represents a particularly distinctive or original approach. Congratulations! Sandra Sider SAQA Vice President.”

Vivika, We hung pieces from one of the trunk shows at IQF-Houston last Fall. I changed them out and moved them around and every day someone would pick out yours as a favorite. One person wanted to BUY IT NOW! I gave her your contact information off the back so she could perhaps get you to make one for her.

Congratulations

What great recognition of your work - you deserve it. I think all of your bird quilts are especially outstanding. Del
