Farmlands, Day 1

For the past 7 or 8 years, my sister and her family have hosted us in Vermont over Memorial day weekend where we participated in the Vermont City Marathon and ran the 26.2 mile course as a relay team. We'd all arrive in the park bright and early along with several thousand other marathon runners and their support teams. The serious runners always were warming up, stretching, jumping - doing anything they could to get ready for the starting gun. That is what I feel like right now... just can't wait to get started on this marathon quilt, but have to wait for that darn gun to go off!
This morning my husband helped me reconfigure my design wall to accommodate an 8 foot long piece and allow me to block the completed quilts properly...
I made the backs for the two quilts and cut the strips for the facing...
I ironed all of the fabrics I had that would work in the piece, and finished clearing out my bird fabrics from my studio...
Two sets of scissors have been sharpened and two rotary cutters have new blades...
I completed two smaller projects that had deadlines in the near future, and delivered them to their new owners...
I received two packages in the mail... Some of the fabrics for the quilts have arrived and they are beautiful... I expect one more package of hand dyed Cherrywood fabric, then the sewing will start tomorrow. I can see the starting line and the marathon is about to start...

You can do it, Vivika. I have great confidence in you and your amazing ability to create beautiful works of art--even with a very short deadline.
